Hello, I'm Ahad Ali.
I am a fifth year combined degree Software Engineering and Finance student
from
Calgary, Canada.
I am currently pursuing a dual degree in Engineering and Business at University of Calgary, and am hoping to graduate by April 2025.
For the past two summers (2022 and 2023), I worked as a Software Engineering Intern at HomeX on the Product Development team. While I was there, I worked on the flagship HomeX product on both the frontend and backend. In addition, through the summer hackathons, I innovated new and creative solutions to improve HomeX's product offering.
For my first two years in university, I worked as a Software Quality Assurance Intern at Redbrick working on the Shift team (2021) and as a Front-End Web Development Intern where I developed a website for the non-profit organization, AASEE (2020). In my last two summers of high school, I worked as a IT Specialist Intern updating inventory, modifying computers, updating databases, reimaging computers and more at Calgary Board of Education (2019), and worked as a STEM Camp Counsellor Intern teaching hundreds of kids programming, 3D printing, robotics, engineering through various fun and engaging activities at STEM Learning Lab (2018).
In addition, I enjoy volunteering and teaching and as such, I have volunteered as a Student Developer developing full-stack web applications for non-profits at Code The Change YYC. I was also a Student Mentor teaching local underrepresented high school students Python programming at Schulich Ignite (formerly Google IgniteCS). Also, in the past, I was a Teaching Assistant at my high school helping a new teacher teach an introduction to programming course in Java at my high school Lord Beaverbrook High School, and volunteered as a Youth Mentor teaching underprivledged elementary and junior high students programming using Code.org at the Calgary Public Library.
As for recent personal projects, I've collaborated on On The House, a homemade food recipe aggregration web application. Currently, I am working on a Heart Biometrics Dashboard, which is a web-based application that aggregates and visualises AI-Driven Data, for Circle Cardiovascular Imaging
I've also built things like DevSpace, a full-stack and responsive social networking application (like MySpace) excusively for developers, and TecShop, a full-stack and responsive e-Commerce application (like Amazon) excusively for tech products.
